About

Studio A89, located in Kaladham, Greater Noida (Delhi NCR), is a visual arts studio dedicated to historic, alternative, and analogue photographic printmaking, as well as contemporary image-making practices.

Constructed in 2010 and activated in 2017, the studio is an evolving space for creative exploration, artistic dialogue, and education. Studio A89 traces its roots to Avinash Foto Graphics (1992–2016), a well-regarded studio based in Sector 19, NOIDA, known for its excellence in commercial, product, industrial, interior, and portrait photography. Across the decades, it partnered with many of India’s foremost professionals, leading brands, and top advertising agencies. Building on this journey, Studio A89 represents a step forward to a broader engagement with the visual arts, embracing analogue and alternative processes alongside digital experimentation, and stands as a space for practice, learning, and collaboration in photography and beyond.

The studio offers a range of interactive programs—from hands-on workshops and exhibitions to presentations and community events—designed to cultivate creative exchange and interdisciplinary engagement.

The Studio is led by Mr. Avinash Aggarwal, a veteran of analogue photography, and is managed by Dr. Aditi Aggarwal, a contemporary artist and visual researcher. The idea is to reimagine the studio as more than just a space for photography— a living lab for slow, tactile image-making practices rooted in memory, archives, and experimentation. The collaborative projects at the studio embrace traditional darkroom methods, chemical-based processes, and alternative photographic techniques, offering a mindful counterpoint to today’s fast-paced digital world.

The vision is to be more than just a photography studio—it is to be a creative ecosystem for analogue, alternative, and digital image-making, blending tradition with experimentation. With a deep expertise in both black-and-white and colour film processing, the studio actively collaborates with artists, scholars, and institutions, positioning itself as a co-working space that nurtures dialogue, creativity, and collaboration. The studio is fully equipped with darkroom facilities and supports 35mm and medium format photography. Whether it’s silver gelatin printing, experimental darkroom processes, or alternative image-making, Studio A89 is committed to cultivating a vibrant community where visual art practitioners and learners can explore, question, and grow together. The outreach activities of the studio are supported by Prof. Dr. Sandhya Goel Aggarwal.

Additionally, each floor of the studio has a selection of books to support work, spontaneous discovery, and creative cross-pollination.
